History and Mission of the FMBA

Florida Monument Builders, organized in 1981, was founded by a handful of craftsmen with a vision:

  • To encourage the knowledge and appreciation of memorialization in the public interest.
  • To organize, foster and maintain an association for the promotion and improvement of the art of memorialization.
  • To support educational programs directed to all segments of the cemetery and memorialization industry.
  • To encourage better memorialization.
  • To bring about constructive relationships between all segments of the memorial industry and cemeteries.
  • To promote and encourage cooperation and understanding in all relations within the memorialization industry.
  • To support research in product design, manufacture, installation and marketing for the betterment of the memorial industry.
  • To support fair competitive practices and equal treatment under the law including equitable and uniform tax treatment at all levels of the memorial industry.
  • To encourage the highest degree of business, professional and ethical standards at all levels of the memorial industry so as to enhance the industry and to protect the public.
  • To encourage the members of the Association to give active support to trade associations in their respective areas of the industry.

Today, the Association continues to thrive at the same level of commitment as shown by the FMBA founders.
